| Summary: | This study aims to understand the impacts of narratives and the developmental model based on industrial extractivism and export-oriented agribusiness in the Amazon, with a particular focus on the municipality of Marabá, located in the Carajás region. The research was conducted through a bibliographic review and sought to analyse the dynamics of territorial appropriation driven by state policies, which are upheld by a colonizing discourse that legitimizes destructive actions in the name of progress. In this context, certain economic activities are prioritized according to capitalist market interests, to the detriment of alternative forms and modes of production. The study highlights that overcoming the current hegemonic model requires the construction of counter-narratives that advocate for the preservation of life in all its dimensions. |
