The experimental plots consisted of ten rows of 4.0 m in length, spaced 0.50 m. In ten plants per plot were marked certain height of the plant in full bloom stage R2 and point of harvest stage R9 considering the distance between the soil surface and apical end of the main stem, the body weight of 100 seeds, grain production and dry weight in (kg ha(-1)) which are calculated from the production harvested per plot. The soybean plants of three varieties showed height below the minimum required for mechanical harvesting. The three varieties yield or more of the traditionally producing. The average of dry matter accumulation obtained show the variety BRS Tracaja as a good option for the production of forage.Objetivou-se, neste trabalho, avaliar o desempenho de três variedades de soja na região dos Tabuleiros Costeiros no Estado de Alagoas. A instalação do experimento ocorreu em 20 de março de 2006, colhendo-se as parcelas em 26 de agosto de 2006. O delineamento experimental utilizado foi o de blocos ao acaso com sete repetições. As parcelas experimentais foram constituídas por dez fileiras de 4,0 m de comprimento, espaçadas de 0,50m. Em dez plantas marcadas por parcela foram determinados: altura da planta na floração plena estádio R2 e ponto de colheita estádio R9 considerando a distancia compreendida entre a superficie do solo e a extremidade apical da haste principal, peso da massa de 100 sementes, produção de grãos e matéria seca em (kg ha-1) sendo estas calculadas a partir da produção colhida por parcela. As plantas de soja das três variedades estudadas apresentaram alturas médias abaixo da mínima exigida para colheita mecânica. As três variedades apresentaram produtividades iguais ou superiores as das regiões tradicionalmente produtoras.
