Based on two main axes, the creation of the modern city and its new spaces, this research seeks to discuss the promotion of new customs, rules of urban behavior, attitudes, sexuality and gender roles, as well as their limitations and restrictions. To do so, we chose three illustrated magazines, all important in the period, of great print run and circulation. Each one of them with specific graphic design and political bias that can sometimes converge. They are: A Cigarra, O Parafuso e O Pirralho

Entender, assim, a partir de que forças, de que lugares e de que sujeitos se deram as disputas nos espaços públicos e privados em formação. Norteada por dois grandes eixos, a criação do citadino e dos novos espaços, ditos modernos, a pesquisa busca discutir a promoção de novos costumes, regras de comportamento urbano, atitudes, papéis sexuais e de gênero, bem como suas limitações e restrições no espaço da cidade. Para tanto, elegemos três revistas ilustradas, todas importantes no período, de grande tiragem e circulação. Cada uma delas com projeto gráfico e viés político específicos que, por vezes, podem apresentar pontos de convergência.
