| Resumo: | Coastal archaeological sites occur along the entire coast of Brazil, among which the Sambaquis stand out. Faunistic remains are the most abundant in these sites and their analysis is part of the investigative line of Zooarchaeology, which operates from a perspective focused on the cultural importance of fauna in human behavior. Integrated in this perspective, the vertebrate remnants of the RS-LN-312 site were analyzed to understand the interactions between ancient inhabitants and the implantation environment. The results show in the archaeofauna the predominance of bony fish, especially catfish (Genidens sp.), papa-terra (Menticirrhus sp.), corvina (Micropogonias furnieri) and mullet (Mugil sp.), as the most captured resources, showing a strategic selection of the site, with easily accessible aquatic environments. |
