Descripción
Sumario:This study aims to analyze the market and trade of fruit pulp produced in the southeast of Bahia. The data was gathered through questionnaires applied to agents that integrate the fruit production chain in the study area. The main results are: the pulp production is concentrated in Ipiaú and Ilheus municipalities; however, there are not initiatives to make well known the quality of the product; a large number of producers does not keep stocks, which makes them vulnerable to the buyers’ requirements regarding quantity and stable delivery of the product. It was also verified an increase in pulp demand, being the soft drink the greatest substitute of the fruits pulp. In addition, the regional agro industry is competitive in many regions of Brazil. In the external market, the Brazilian pulp fruit seems to be well received. As suggestion, the public sector must develop better plan for the agricultural activities and agroindustry, providing in addition technical support to fruit pulp producers. It is recommended, also, more efficient strategies to sell the product, more rigorous on pulp quality control and marketing strategy to expand sales in the internal and external markets.
