| Resumo: | The present study carried out a systematic review of the national and international literature on the expansion of adipose tissue (AT), which is a central factor in obesityand its comorbidities. Recently, it has been discovered that there are multiple subtypes of AT, with brown adipose tissue (TAM) being an important target for combating obesity. The present exploratory study of systematic review aims to address findings ofTAM and its importance in burning fat and regulating body weight, consequently the reduction of diseases related to this metabolic disorder. After considering the inclusion, exclusion and manual search criteria in the article references, eleven studies were reviewed in the Scielo, PubMed and. The articles show that TAM, may be the main responsible for thermogenesis, a process in which lipids burn with heat generation, contributing to increase energy expenditure, favoring weight loss and combating comorbidities. Interestingly, TAM can be reactivated in adulthood, particularly in the face of sympathetic stimuli, such as cold and physical exercise. In addition, the presence of intermediate adipocytes, called beige adipocytes, indicates that in adults, it is possible on sympathetic stimuli to increase their conversion to brown adipocytes. Of the articles read, most of them report thermogenesis as a fundamental and necessary element for weight loss, guiding scientific research for the discovery of new drugs that act as thermogenic. |
