| Summary: | This paper aims to investigate the Habermasian confrontation with Immanuel Kant and Carl Schmitt about the foundations of a juridical and political cosmopolitan project. By analyzing Habermas’ paths between The Inclusion of the Other (1996) and On Europe’s Constitution (2011), it is investigated how such a confrontation occurs and what is its strategic role in configuring a juridical and political Postnational model. Thus, it should be noted that Habermas, who claims the Kantian legacy, must face the theoretical counterpoints raised by Carl Schmitt’s thought about the very political self-understanding of Modernity. Therefore, one should situate an axis of contemporary political cosmopolitanism, and Schmitt’s role played in the larger frame of political and philosophical debates of the present times. |
