Resumo:This research aimed to analyze the application of the Social Doctrine of the Church by the Archdiocese of Aracaju, in the administration of Dom Luciano, from 1971 to 1998, taking care to analyze the scope of the principle of subsidiarity. And, as this is documentary research, the data was collected from a publication organized by Gizelda Morais and reports from PRHOCASE - Promotion of Man from the Sergipe Field, more specifically in the region of Vale do Cotinguiba, traditionally focused on sugarcane monoculture and, with the decline of culture and conflict for labor rights and the search for access to land, there is a conflict that brings poor workers and the Catholic Church closer together. The result of Dom Luciano's efforts is a possibility to understand the implementation of actions related to the Social Doctrine of the Church and the results point to little-known aspects of the dimension of this leader of the Catholic Church and how much he also worked in favor of the underprivileged of the capitalist system, despite the recurrent connections of his person to conservative segments of Aracaju and Sergipe society.
