| Resumo: | Based on the memory of a person who dedicated a whole life to the poorest and who finds himself in crisis faced with the contradiction that exists between the theologies that feed his faith and the reality of the suffering of the poor, the article analyzes three types of answers given to the non-fulfillment of the utopic expectations of liberation Christianity: a) the reaffirmation of the “metaphysical truths” about the utopia of the liberation of the poor; b) the criticism of the transcendental illusion of modernity also present in liberation Christianity; c) fidelity to the cause of the poor based on the spiritual encounter with the poor, even without a solution to the theological crisis. |
