Resumo:Wood is a renewable building material that requires low energy consumption for production. In Brazil, planted forests are also used to produce laminated panels like plywood, which is the oldest industrialized wood product. The objective of this review is to synthesize information about the current geographic and economic situation of the brazilian plywood industry. Information was collected in articles, wood industry associations and internet sites. It was found that most plywood industries in Brazil are located in the southern region, mainly in the states of Paraná and Santa Catarina.
