| Sumario: | Objective: To evaluate the bond strength of self-etch adhesive systems to the dentin of primary molars. Method: Forty dentin surfaces were distributed into 4 groups (n=10/group), according to the material used: G1 (control group)=Adper Single Bond (3M/ESPE), G2=Self-Etch (Vigodent), G3=AdheSE (Ivoclar/Vivadent) and G4=Futurabond NR Single Dose (Voco). The adhesive systems were used according the manufacturers’ instructions and then composite resin (Filtek Z250; 3M/ESPE) cylinders were built onto the adhesive layer. Each specimen was tested in shear strength in a universal testing machine (EMIC DL-2000) at a crosshead speed of 0.5 mm/ min. Data (in MPa) were analyzed statistically by Kolmogorov-Smirnov, ANOVA and Tukey`s tests at 5% significance level. Results: The group AdheSE presented significantly higher mean bond strength (9.25 MPa) than the other groups. The groups Single Bond (6.25 Mpa) and Self-Etch (4.14 Mpa) did not differ significantly from each other. The group Futurabond NR Single Dose presented significantly lower mean bond strength (3.46 Mpa) than those of the groups AdheSE and Single Bond. Conclusion: AdheSE may be used in the pediatric clinic because it presented the highest shear bond strength values, followed by Adper Single Bond 2 and Self-Etch Vigodent. Futurabond NR Single Dose presented too low shear bond strength to dentin to validate its indication for clinical use in primary teeth. |
