| Resumo: | In this paper Roger Bastide´s book Le Prochain et le Lontain (1970) and O Próximo e o distante: Japão e Modernidade-Mundo (2000) from Renato Ortiz were analyzed to indicate each author's peculiarities and time in the focus of the themes of modernity, modernization and of "the other", seen in the Social Sciences. If is a fact that sociological objects are built and change according to the contexts and times, the reading of the two texts serves to historicize and show certain changes. |
