| Sumario: | The objective of the present study was to define a profile of users of anabolic steroids at gyms from the city of Bauru (São Paulo, Brazil), investigating the incidence of side effects, the reasons that caused the use of those drugs, and other questions. The research was done through a questionnaire composed of several questions related to the use of anabolic steroids. The questionnaire was applied to 40 men, users of anabolic steroids and practitioners of bodybuilding, in four gyms of Bauru, considered of middle class. Only 22.5% of the interviewed people reported no side effects. Among people who mentioned some side effects, the most cited was: acne (52.5%), aggressiveness (32.5%), and decrease of libido after the cycle (30%). When analyzing the different answers found in this study, the conclusion is that there is a big probability of the concurrency of side effects when using anabolic steroids. |
