Resumo:Introduction: This study proposes a solution to the problem of limited automated dissemination of access metadata encountered by digital archival repositories employing AtoM and Archivematica software, as exemplified by the Hipátia model. The Hipátia model integrates the open-source systems BarraPres, Archivematica, and AtoM to implement the functions of the Open Archival Information System (OAIS) reference model. However, restrictions within Archivematica and AtoM related to the mapping and automated transfer of descriptive metadata to the access interface—throughout the preservation workflow—limit archival descriptions. Consequently, these constraints undermine the effective dissemination of information. Method: This applied, mixed-methods research aims to develop a new access metadata service for digital archival repositories grounded in the Hipátia digital preservation model, as proposed by Ibict. To this end, experimental procedures are employed, including the preparation of a computing environment and the execution of an experiment utilizing a Python-based algorithm. Results: The experiments demonstrated that, by leveraging AtoM’s native functionalities, it is possible to enhance the automated dissemination of metadata while meeting essential requirements for an archival repository, such as maintaining the integrity of the chain of custody. Conclusion: The research highlights the necessity and feasibility of developing a solution that enables archives to fully realize the potential of the ISAD(G) (General International Standard Archival Description) standard, implemented by AtoM in the digital archival repository.
