| Resumo: | This paper presents a study of the evolution of the urban area in the Rio Largo city, of Alagoas, over the past 30 years. It's possible to observe the main factors that influenced urban growth and the resulting impacts. For this purpose, satellite images from historical series were used, considering the years 1993, 2003, 2013, and 2023. Sloping areas occupied by urbanization were identified, as well as urbanized areas within environmental protection zones. In this way, it was possible to observe the transformations in different types of land use and the trends in growth patterns, analyzing how economic, social, and environmental factors contributed to urban expansion. These results provide important information for urban planning, helping local public policies promote more sustainable and structured development for the city. |
