Resumo:Dermanyssus gallinae is a hematophagous mite of great economic importance for laying poultry in several countries. The aim of this study was evaluate the response of fed deutonymphs to different velocities of laminar air stream and to rubber septa stopper containing hexanic or dichloromethanic co-specific mites extracts in a discriminant olfactometer. The fed deutonymphs did not show an anemotaxis behavior when were exposed to air stream of 10±2 cm/s, 20± 2 cm/s and to control (zero+2 cm/s) (p0,05). Moreover, the deutonymphs did not show an attraction behavior when were submitted to dichloromethanic or hexanic co-specific mites extracts containing 200 or 500 equivalent-mites per milliliter of solvent (eq/mL) and to controls (zero eq/mL or pure solvent) (p0,05). Therefore, fed deutonymphs are not oriented by wind in the evaluated velocities, in other words, does not show anemotaxis behavior, and are not attracted by deutonymphs co-specific extracts in the tested concentrations. However, cannot exclude the possibility of this stage of D. gallinae produce and/or respond, in other conditions, to attractive assembly pheromone of this specie of mite, which has been reported in the literature for other instars.
