Descripción
Sumario:Based on theoretical assumptions of the Socio-onomastics, this work aims to analyze the social name as a category of Brazilian anthroponymy. To reach this purpose, the inclusion of the term nome social (social name) in the Brazilian legal system is observed. We also analyse the strategies of reference to trans people in the news about violence against this group published on the Internet between 2008 and 2017. The analysis leaves room for observing that the term nome social was first used in the Brazilian national norms in the last years of the first decade of the 21st century, but its frequency in the news has been low. Notwithstanding, the recognition of the social name constitutes, in both sets of texts, a way to guarantee the principle of human dignity.
