Summary:This article shows that the topical organization, as proposed by the Modular Analysis Approach of Discourse, has adequate analytical instruments for the study of the phenomenon of summarization. Specifically, we study the topical organization of an article, by analyzing two summaries in the article “Por que eles querem presidir a Câmara”, in order to show that this kind of nominalization plays important role both in construction of referential information chain and in structuring discourse, as the nature of textual constituents is signaled.KEYWORDS: Summarization.
