| Sumario: | This study aimed to verify the impact of Psychological Capital (PsyCap) on commitment to university teaching actions (teaching, research, extension and management) and the possible moderating effect of organizational commitment. 251 professors from Mozambican higher education institutions participated and responded to an instrument composed of a socio demographic questionnaire, a PsyCap measure (PCQ-12) by Viseu and collaborators (2012), a measure of Organizational Commitment (MCO-7) by Bastos and Aguiar (2015) and a Commitment to Teaching Actions Scale (ECAD–28) by Pereira (2019). Data were processed with JASP 0.17.4.0 through descriptive and inferential analyses. The results revealed that PsyCap enhances teachers' psychological connection with their actions. However, when analyzing the moderating effect of organizational commitment on the predictive power of PsyCap on commitment to teaching actions, it is reported that higher levels of organizational commitment produce a reduction in the effect of PsyCap on levels of commitment to teaching actions. This fact demonstrates that an individual can be linked to different focuses, and such links can interact and produce different effects. |
