Descrição
Resumo:The objective of this article is to analyze the socioeconomic development of the municipalities that make up the Great Mercosur Border Mesoregion (GFM), using economic growth and socioeconomic development as a parameter, from 2005 to 2016. The methodology used was the estimation of the Centrality and Regional Disparity indicators to verify the convergence of intra and inter-regional socioeconomic development. The results indicated that municipalities with good socioeconomic performance have economic activities aimed at agriculture, industry and/or services more intensively. In its entirety, the Mesoregion is dynamic, but with a significant regional polarization. Municipalities with low socioeconomic development indicators need public policies focused on endogenous potential.
