Description
Summary:The research aimed to conduct an exploratory study using the tailings from the beneficiation of iron ore in the production of mortars. For this, the characterization of the materials used was performed, among them the tailings from the beneficiation of iron ore. The iron ore tailings (RMF) was used in the production of mortars, as a partial replacement for fine aggregate. Mortar mixtures were developed with RMF contents of 0%, 25%, 50% and 100% replacement, by mass, of conventional fine aggregate. The influence of the use of this waste on the rheology and mechanical performance of the mortars was comparatively evaluated, establishing correlations between the percentages of waste used and the changes in the properties of these materials. The results obtained pointed out the potential of using iron ore tailings in the production of mortars, and the mortar mix with a 25% content of RMF showed the best mechanical performance and durability parameters.
