| Resumo: | The aim of this article is to confront the approaches to Machado de Assis' work performed by Roberto Schwarz and Jose Miguel Wisnik. Noting up the privilege given by both critical to the Brazilian historical experience in the constitution of the author's writing, we will pursue the comparison of the concept of "misplaced ideas" - identified by Schwarz in the formation of national culture and at the core of his understanding of Machado - with the "place out of ideas", prepared by Wisnik from the first, challenging it while agreeing with it. |
