Sumario:This study reports the occurrence of the copepod parasites Caligus bonito and Caligus sp. on the white mullet, Mugil curema Valenciennes, 1836, based on thirty-one specimens captured on the coastal waters of Natal, Rio Grande do Norte State, in the period from March, 2001 to June, 2002. The parasites occurred on two fishes, being identified as C. bonito with four specimens (66.7%), all of which were males, and as Caligus sp. with two specimen, all of which were females. Prevalence values of 12.9% andf 6.45% were registered for C. bonito and Caligus sp., respectively. The fixation area preferred by the parasites was the gills of the host.
