| Sumario: | This descriptive-exploratory study has attempted to identify and analyze the “Nova Escola Magazine” articles – published by Abril - on the use of information technology and communication in Physical Education (PE) in elementary school. Seven reports were found in the period from June 2009 to June 2010, four of which in the printed magazine and three in the RNE website. After collecting and organizing the data, all the material undergone content analysis, which allowed us to realize that the conception used by the “Nova Escola Magazine” emphasized the instrumental dimension of media and technology (the use of technology as a didactic resource) in PE classes, sometimes presenting propositions, although limited – considering what is advocated in Media Education – for the analysis and use of videos and printed materials in classes. Thus, while considering some advance in the fact that the magazine brought up such discussions and propositions also for PE, it is relevant to make a critique on how this is happening (the emphasis on the technical/instrumental aspects over the critical, active and productive dimension). At the same time, we suggest a broader outlook on the issues of Media-education regarding the assessment of sporting culture, the discursive issues of media and the pedagogical actions in PE classes. |
