Descrição
Resumo:After the inclusion of the term English as a Lingua Franca (ELF) in the National Common Curricular Base (BNCC, 2017), actions aimed at understanding and discussing the term ELF, which had gradually been discussed in undergraduate courses in Brazil (GIMENEZ; EL KADRI; CALVO, 2018), became the subject of more intense debates, doubts, questions, and even insecurities for pre and in-service English teachers. Research on ELF and teaching indicates the need to reflect on more practical actions that guide pedagogical decision-making by teachers (ALVES, 2024; SANTOS, 2023). Based on this, in this article, we intend to describe the development of ELF-aware lesson plans during the construction of a final undergraduate paper and to analyze what, how, and why these plans reflect characteristics of ELF awareness for High School. Furthermore, we will discuss how these plans can follow an English Language Teaching (ELT) approach integrated with the ELF and critical applied linguistics perspective.
