Summary:Tinea nigra is a rare dermatomycosis, superficial, asymptomatic and sporadic appearance that compromises the stratum corneum of the epidermis caused by the fungus Phaeoannellomyces werneckii. The aim is to report a case of a child with the disease in the left palm in the city of Campos dos Goytacazes, RJ; through chart review and literature. We conclude that the clinical diagnosis adequately for all medical professionals, without the need to collect samples exacerbated the injury and the patient undergo invasive tests, allows the pathology is thus treated, and not confused with other melanocytic lesions.
