Sumario:The purpose of this paper is to refl ect on the question highlighted on its title and understand why textbooks are still used in classrooms, especially as an instrument of mediation for the teaching of literature. This text also reflects about distant learning and how much it relies on the school book (textbook) as a model to establish the relation between the virtual environment and concrete support.
