| Resumo: | This article engages with the memories of rural workers from Araruna-PR, highlighting their experiences often neglected by local history. We explore how the history of Araruna could be told from the cultural customs of rural workers and seek to understand their knowledge and sociocultural practices. Drawing on the historian Edward Palmer Thompson (1981), we explore concepts such as culture, history, experience, and ways of producing historical knowledge. We also discuss the humanist geographer Yi-Fu Tuan's (1983) perspective on rural areas as spaces for workers. The research involved seven families, using Walter Benjamin's theoretical-methodological framework for remembrance practices. We conducted four discussion rounds, called "cultivations," which were recorded and transcribed using the Oral History technique. The memories of the rural workers were organized into Benjaminian monads, and then made available on a website. The research also resulted in a book that was disseminated and distributed to schools in the region. |
