Descripción
Sumario:The contents of Probability and Statistics, entitled “Information Treatment”, appear for the first time in Brazil in 1997 with the publication of the National Curricular Parameters. In 2017, they were reaffirmed as the Thematic Unit “Probability and Statistics” in the edition of the National Common Curricular Base – BNCC. These documents point out that all citizens need to develop skills to collect, organize, represent, interpret and analyze data, as well as understand that not all phenomena are deterministic and that there may be certain, impossible, improbable and probable events, in order to use these concepts in different daily contexts, in decision-making and in situations of uncertainty. Thus, the objective of this contribution is to present, through documents, the historical trajectory that situates the curricular question in relation to the teaching of Statistics and Probability in Brazil, of the BNCC with regard to the Initial Years of Elementary Education (1st to 5th year - children between 6 and 10 years old) and then, following the document referring to these contents, following paths ("why", "what" and "how"), we can streamline the prescribed curriculum.
