| Sumario: | This paper aims to discuss the semantic categories of the verb llevar from sentences taken from electronic newspapers. Presented with different meanings, the sentences highlighted for the analysis of this work present metaphorical meanings with different meanings for different contexts. Therefore, the texts were analyzed based on the application of the cultural, grammatical and conceptual semantic categories, according to the approach of Moura (2006) and Lakoff and Johnson (1980; 2002). At the end of the study, it was noticed that the semantic variations resulting from the use of the llevar verb vary according to the context of use, as well as the meanings made possible in syntactic constructions surpass a superficial level of understanding of the interlocutor: the verb polysemy and the context of its utterance interfere with its accomplishment and the senses uttered. |
