Resumo:In this essay, Jorge Luis Borges’ reading of Cortázar, Poe and Hawthorne is the subject of analysis regarding the construction of a poetics of the short story, considering the influences these authors exerted on the argentine writer. Approaching the literary creation as a recurrent, circular and concentric process, our investigation points to the constitution of a writing based on notes and analysis facing a system of literary pairs, suggesting not only possibilities for the writing, but also for the reading.---DOI: http:/dx.doi.org/10.12957/matraga.2017.26975
