Descripción
Sumario:This is a descriptive qualitative study showing results of the research "The meaning of death for nursing workers in Intensive Care Units". A semi-structured interview was used to collect data from nurses and nursing auxiliaries from the ICU of the Santa Casa Hospital of Montes Claros, State of Minas Gerais. The results show that death is part of the work routine of those interviewed, as something which goes against the purpose of saving lives. When this is mixed with personal conflicts and subjectivity, it shows the need for support to nursing workers handling situations in which people go through the process of dying and death.
