Sumario:This paper reviews the tensions and disputes in the field of the production of knowledge with respect to Africa. We will discuss both. Some positions are presented that refute the principles of Western scientific knowledge in a critical way, from the African point of view. Other positions identify restrictions that are hard to overcome for occidental scientific knowledge. The goal is not to finish the debate, but present the field of the production of knowledge from a political viewpoint, that is, starting from the recognition of the existing relationship between colonialism and knowledge. Knowledge production in the areas of sociology (MACAMO, 2002) and philosophy (HOUNTONDJI, 2010 and APPIAH, 1997) are specifically treated.
