| Resumo: | Cold formed profiles are an economic and efficient option in steel construction. The often have perforations to fit connections and accommodate electrical end hydraulic installations. These holes may modify the structure behavior and reduce its resistance. The adoption of edge-stiffened perforations may reduce these prejudicial effects. This work analyzes cold formed rack columns with two parallel rows of holes, prone to web local buckling and also buckling between holes. Linear and non-linear finite element analysis are carried out by software ANSYS. The non-stiffened perforations increase the slenderness and reduce columns resistance, but, edge-stiffened holes may revert these effects, approximating the resistance and behavior of edge-stiffened perforated and non-perforated columns. This may indicate that the adoption of edge-stiffened holes may mitigate bad effect of perforations. |
