| Resumo: | The folias are rituals of social and symbolic exchange. One of their most important features is the execution of “cantorios.” More than the utterance of verses over the basis of a harmonic and melodic music, they put into operation the coordinated movement of bodies in relation to a system of objects. In this article, I analyze the role of these performances during the ceremonial rituals performed to mark the official start of the festive events. |
