| Sumario: | The portunid crab Charybdis hellerii (A. Milne-Edwards, 1867), a species of Indo-Pacific origin, is reported for the first time from the coast of Ceará State, Brazil. The material examined was collected in September 2004 at Redonda (04o 42’ S; 37o 21’ W) and Pontal do Maceió (04o 27’ S; 37o 04’ W) beaches. We discuss the possible ways of introduction of this species on Ceará coast. The present record extends the geographic range known for this species in the Brazilian coast. |
