| Sumario: | This paper investigates the dissemination of derogatory speeches involving gender issues, in conservative groups, in the WhatsApp messaging application. The theoretical reflection triggers recent discussions on gender conservatism and the role of WhatsApp as a platform for sharing these discourses, in the light of Biroli et al. (2020), Chagas et al. (2019), Santos et al. (2021), Faludi (2009) and Brown (2019). Through a qualitative analysis of a sample of messages from 70 Bolsonarist groups, we evidenced how anti-feminist and anti-LGBTQIA+ arguments, the construction of the violent/traitorous woman and the elaborations on the ideal woman endorse a conservative conception regarding relationships of gender. |
