Sumario:The growth of urban space in many medium-sized cities occurs rapidly and without of planning to integrates all of its systems, such as the water supply system, sewage, rainwater drainage system, solid waste management, among others, can impact the environment, such as river basins in urban areas. Presidente Prudente is no different, it does not have a management of the rainwater drainage, it only has the function of reducing the speed of rainwater and destining them to the stream closest to the collection area, but this way of thinking system has been shown to be inefficient as it is perceived in the occurrence of flooding in some parts of the city. Thus, the work sought to discuss the drainage and its consequences focusing on the causes that have led the region of the Parque do Povo in Presidente Prudente - SP to present occasional flooding points on rainy days, focusing on the importance of implementation of Urban Drainage Master Plan Presidente Prudente - SP. The methodology used was based on qualitative research, using a bibliographical survey, research, documentary research, data collection and materials and intensive direct observation. When investigating the use and ground occupation in Parque do Povo and the critical flooding points, it was verified that the flood problems in the Parque do Povo are not associated with the Solid Urban Waste that are incorrectly discarded in the region but rather the region topographic feature, the use and occupation of the ground (reduction of permeable areas) and the undersizing of drainage system requires a multidisciplinary planning, where macrodrainage must be part of the whole in urban infrastructure. This multidisciplinary planning should be compatible with other plans and projects of all integrated public services, and especially, those aimed at urban water management
