| Resumo: | This theoretical essay seeks to understand the dichotomy in current prison public policies regarding attempts to humanize prisons in subjugation to excessive control and surveillance. In addition to this pendulum swing in the prison system, it opens the debate on the insurgency for citizenship in Brazilian prisons by presenting the concept of insurgent citizenship and how civil society, in an organized form, shows itself to have an important role in demanding rights for the population deprived of liberty. This article also aims to bring a multidisciplinary aspect to the field of Political Science on an approach that is not traditional in the area. |
