| Sumario: | In this article we intend to analyze the identity building in Novo Hamburgo City, in Brazil, from the media sources. More specificaly, we propose to analyze the ethnic representations of the city in "Maria Bugra literature: episode from the beginning of Germany colonization", written by the first Mayor of Novo Hamburgo City, published in the local newspaper soon after the City's emancipation in 1927. This work is plenty of ethnic identities representations, and it presents a narrative through which the archetypes of heroes and vilains connected to those representations are built. In this sense, we propose an analysis of the relation of two distinct identities - one connected to the ethnicity, and the other connected to the city surroundings - observing the form of their association, and also the importance of ethnic representations in the identity-building studied in that city. |
