Resumo:This study deals with religious manifestations in football in times of mediatization. Recovering the intrinsic and primordial relations between sport and religiosity, as well as their ways of negotiating a secular permanence in Modernity, this work contrasts two different experiences. On the one hand, the religious manifestations in the media society, identifying there the neo-Pentecostal adherence, exemplified in the case of the Athletes of Christ. On the other hand, with society in mediatization, we pay attention to emerging proceduralities, especially with the forms of presence of religions of African origin in football. Analyzing the circulation of case of the player Feijão, son of Ogum, we infer about tensions and spread of religious manifestations in society in mediatization.
