| Sumario: | The current Chinese presence in the international system translates into a moment of theoretical innovation to explain the rise and behavior of a new actor of great relevance. One of the most notable Chinese projects is the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) which has recently been introduced in South America, and is expected to be introduced in Brazil as well; which represents not only a new source of investment but also a new source of influence in the region. This work is concerned with analyzing the Chinese international projection plans under the concept of Embedded Globalization, especially its effects in Brazil, an area of recognized American influence; in order to test its application and contribute to the discussion and construction of instruments that help in the analysis of the Chinese political economy. In this way, the question arises: Does the implementation of Chinese investments in Brazil configure a project of embedded globalization? This work follows the hypothesis that despite the small volume of Chinese investments in Brazil, their quality is enough for their Embedded character to be recognized; and that Lula da Silva's third term may represent the intensification of the Sino-Brazilian relationship |
