| Resumo: | In this article I intend to present the criticism of the industrial society of Herbert Marcuse in two movements. Taking the automobile industry as a particular case for the generalization of a way of life (and death), as well as the debate on this theme in the 1970s, I will discuss the place of Utopia in Herbert Marcuse's thinking as a basis for thinking the social movements and Critical Theory itself. To this end, I mobilize the works of Brazilian researchers, some unpublished texts of Marcuse in Brazil, and a series of papers that allow articulating a critical theory of the social movement in the key of the Great Refusal and revolution. |
