| Summary: | This article aims to raise questions and discuss the relevance of critical financial reasoning (CFR) in teaching and learning financial education in schools (FES) and the elements necessary to compose an intentional activity that privileges this reasoning, with sociological, cultural and attitudinal biases. To this end, we discuss the prominent place that memorization and techniques have taken place in teaching to the detriment of the actions of reflecting, questioning and thinking. Also, discuss the prominent place that the sequence "examples → definition, results → examples → formulas, techniques → applications → exercises" has occupied in basic mathematics classes. When addressing the relevance of the CFR exercise in resolving financial issues, we direct our attention to discussions regarding the process of developing an intentional activity that stimulates and enhances this reasoning, based on assumptions of qualitative research methodology. The conclusions indicate which elements are necessary to stimulate the mobilization of reasoning: developing intentional activities, focusing on mobilizing the CFR; enumerate which elements are necessary to compose such activities; prioritize everyday situations, according to the transdisciplinary aspect; make use of technology, and be in line with FES trends. |
