Descripción
Sumario:The use of nitrogen fertilizers is responsible for part of GHG emissions from the agricultural sector. In the 3rd edition of the inventory only synthetic fertilizers contributed with more than 33 million tons of CO2 equivalent emitted in 2014. There-fore evaluating ways to mitigate these emissions can contribute to the sustainability of this sector. Therefore, the objective of this study was to evaluate possible options that could reduce CO2 and eq emissions in the sector. It was carried out an exploratory work of bibliographical review that had as ob-jective to demonstrate the evaluation of possible industrial techniques of coating the granules of urea making possible the reduction of fertilizer use due to the increase of nutrient efficiency in the crops. A systematic search was carried out in the litera-ture, field experiments were used, as well as a practical demonstration through veri-fying calculations where it was possible to observe that the use of a product with specific characteristics in the agribusiness that can contribute to decrease Up to 50% of the emissions of nitrous oxide into the atmosphere emitted by urea. Through this study, it is hoped to contribute to the mitigation of greenhouse gas emissions and to improve the efficiency of ABC agriculture practices, as well as to seek other ways to protect the environment and produce a more sustainable agribusiness in Brazil. An economic analysis on the reduction of costs in the use of protected nitro-gen fertilizer is also made.
