Summary:A new species, Simulium friedlanderi spn.n., subgenus Simulium (Chirostilbia) Enderlein, is described. S. friedlanderi was found in the north of the west-central Hydrogeological Province, Upper Paraguay subprovince. Simulium (Chirostilbia) laneportoi Vargas, 1941 is revised and Simulium (C.) dekeyseri Shelley & Py-Daniel, 1981 is considered synonymous with it. S. (C.) laneportoi is present in the north of the west-central Hydrogeological Province, Upper Paraguay subprovince, and the southeast of the Central Shield Hydrogeological Province. Diferential keys are presented for larvae and pupae of the pertinax-group.
