Resumo:The purpose of this project is to investigate the relationship that Paul Ricoeur establishes with Edmund Husserl's phenomenology. This is a fundamental step towards properly understanding how phenomenology is incorporated into Ricoeur's philosophy, especially on the issue of self-understanding, a central problem in his work. According to Ricoeur, there is an idealism in Husserl's interpretation of the phenomenological method, and this idealism would find its due correction in its interaction with hermeneutics. This interaction between phenomenology and hermeneutics, which is not original to Ricoeur, will be developed in particular ways throughout his various works and will become one of the central characteristics of his thought. Therefore, our proposal is to analyze this problem in three stages: 1) the historical contextualization and Ricoeur's position in the relationship between the phenomenological and hermeneutic traditions; 2) Ricoeur's interpretation of Husserlian phenomenology, its uses and the distances established; and 3) how Ricoeur's phenomenological-hermeneutic synthesis differs from other authors and establishes the foundations of his philosophical anthropology
