Descripción
Sumario:This work reflects on the life story of the midwife and faith healer Maria Rita da Conceição, a black woman, quilombola, aged 79, resident of the quilombo Lagoa do Zeca located in the center-north of Bahia, in the municipality Canarana-Ba. Considering his life trajectory, we seek to understand through his memory the processes of constitution of the identity, culture and resistance of his community. Both her life story, her memories and reflections were captured through narrative interviews, in which she narrates and ponders about her life trajectory and the cultural manifestations of Lagoa do Zeca. To support this work, as a theoretical contribution, we follow the contributions of Halbwachs (1990) and Bosi (1994), Hall (2006) and Pollak (1992), Matos (2005), Santos (2013) and Pereira (2013), among others. The analysis of the interviews allowed us to understand that the themes of ancestry and resistance are structuring for the history and lives of the residents of the quilombo object of this study. It is also concluded that memory, learned and observed through the narratives of the old woman Maria Rita, acts as a fundamental link to safeguard culture and local identities.
