The process of urban restructuring in Montes Claros is associated to its coming out as a City-Region and to its consolidation as a tertiary and industrial pole within the urban network of Northern Minas Gerais. The objective of this research is to discuss Montes Claross urban structure current tendencies of socio-spatial configuration and its new urban-regional articulations.Transformação de Montes Claros de uma Cidade Agrário-Mercantil para uma Cidade Urbano-Industrial se refletiu diretamente na configuração da sua estrutura urbana: a expansão do tecido urbano, a periferização do uso e ocupação do solo, a proliferação de assentamentos subnormais, a segregação sócioespacial, a descentralização comercial do centro e o surgimento de novas centralidades. Montes Claros passou de uma Cidade Monocêntrica a uma Cidade Policêntrica. O processo de reestruturação urbana de Montes Claros está atrelado à formação de uma cidade-região e à sua consolidação como pólo terciário e industrial da rede urbana do Norte de Minas.
