Resumo:ABSTRACT The flight ability of Rhodnius brethesi was evaluated through laboratory observations, and it was correlated with the quantity of blood ingested, gender and fasting period. A total of 65 insects were analyzed: 27 males and 38 females; their mean survival period was 17.8 and 22.3 days, respectively. Most of the insects started flying after 13 days.
